Ongoing Projects

Interdiction and Seizure Capacity Building with Special Emphasis on ATS and Precursors

Summary: It is estimated that only a limited portion of the illegal drugs smuggled into Viet Nam is seized. The objective of the project is to strengthen the law enforcement efforts over trafficking in drugs, in particular ATS and precursor chemicals, through the development of inter-agency Interdiction Task Force Units in six selected hotspot provinces. The project will support the targeting of traffickers by providing training and equipment to permit the use of investigative techniques promoted in the 1988 UN Convention. Read more.

Strengthening Legal and Law Enforcement Institutions in Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Persons in Viet Nam

Summary: The project's main objective is to enhance the existing mechanisms against trafficking in human beings through the facilitation of networking within law enforcement and the judiciary, increasing investigation and prosecution capacities and the training of personnel of the involved agencies. In line with the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and its Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, UNODC, through its Global Programme against Trafficking in Human Beings as well as the UNODC Viet Nam Country Office, will assist the Vietnamese Government in enhancing its responses to counteract trafficking in persons as a phenomenon of organized crime in the country. Drug Abuse Prevention Among Ethnic Minorities in Vietnam

Following the completion of the initial two-year pilot phase (B85) the objective of the current project phase is to prevent an increase in drug use and drug-related harm (incl. HIV) among ethnic minority populations in selected highland provinces of Vietnam. Read more

Comprehensive drug prevention through communications and community mobilization

The drug prevention project aims to reduce drug use in Viet Nam, especially among young people. this is to be achieved through different media efforts and community-based activities. The project's objective is to enhance and integrate information and communication in mass media campaigns and community based activities. Read more
