Crime Surveys
UNODC promotes research and studies on new and emerging forms of crime. It assists in the upgrading of national capacities in collecting, analysing and using criminal justice data through the application of modern information technologies.
The work focuses on conducting:
- The periodic United Nations Surveys of Crime Trends and Operations of Criminal Justice Systems
- Crime Victim Surveys
- Crime and Corruption Business Surveys (CCBS)
The Social and Housing Statistics Section, Demographic and Social Statistics Branch, Statistics Division, United Nations has released the Manual for the Development of a System of Criminal Justice Statistics ( PDF version). This revised Manual sets out an updated general framework for the development of a system of criminal justice statistics in eight chapters and eight annexes. The Manual will be published in the six official languages of the United Nations.
