Libya
Strengthening the national and legal institutional capacities of the Great Libyan Jamahiriya through a multi-sectoral drug control assistance
Status: Launched on September 2002
This project targets assistance to drug control law enforcement and customs authorities in Libya with the aim of improving their interdiction capacity through provision of training and equipment; assisting the People's Committee for Health through fostering the national capabilities in treatment, rehabilitation and prevention; and updating the national drug control legislation measures to comply with the UN international drug control conventions. Assistance to Libya will have a wider impact in the North African region due to the strategic location of the country along main trafficking routes.
